Join cleanup effort at Axehead Lake in Des Plaines
A nonprofit group called Clean Up — Give Back is organizing an environmental cleanup project in Des Plaines on April 13 to celebrate Earth Month.
It will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Forest Preserves of Cook County’s Axehead Lake. Participants should use the Chippewa Woods entrance at 2760 S River Road.
Gloves, grabbers, safety vests and trash bags will be provided. If it rains, the event will move to April 14.
Participation is free and open to the public. You can register at cleanupgiveback.org, but walk-ups also are welcome.
