Early Easter for Carol Stream apartment residents

Residents of Colony Park Apartments on Thornhill Drive in Carol Stream were treated to an early Easter dinner on March 26.

Wheaton Elks Lodge No. 2258, with help by the charity organization Violets Kitchen, Carol Stream’s Mapleberry Pancake House, volunteers from the Carol Stream Police Department, and community members distributed meals of baked ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, rolls and brownies to people at Colony Park.

Meals were delivered to the residents who could not attend the dinner, and leftover food was donated to the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton.

A donation from St. Charles-based Support Over Stigma, which supports military personnel, veterans and first responders, also provided each Colony Park resident with two boxes of Girl Scout cookies.

The March 26 project was led by Marina Mattingly of Elks Lodge No. 2258 with assistance by Mapleberry’s Sylvia Masters and Susan Fehling of Violets Kitchen.
