Hoffman chamber honors 2012 scholarship winners

The Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce recently awarded area outstanding students with academic scholarships.

Recognizing that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, Hoffman Estates Chamber members have committed to investing in the future through a series of scholarships offered to graduating high school seniors, current college students and/or graduate students. This year, thanks to a generous donation from Ambria College of Nursing, the chamber added an additional $1,000 nursing student scholarship.

The chamber was pleased to recognize three excellent students at a reception on Tuesday, April 24, hosted by Ambria College of Nursing.

Students applying for the scholarships submitted their entries in February and met the following guidelines: at least 17 years old and an employee or immediate family member of an employee who is a Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce member. Applicants also submitted current transcripts and an essay, which were evaluated and graded on a point system.

This year’s scholarship award winners are:

Shannon Norris, $500 Scholarship sponsored by Hoffman Estates Community Bank. Norris will graduate from William Fremd High School in June. She applied to the University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota and the University of Missouri. Her designated course of study is biology/pre-medicine.
