Chicago man accused of stabbing co-worker in Batavia
A Chicago man has been charged with attempted murder, accused of stabbing a co-worker in the neck around 6:50 a.m. Monday morning in Batavia.
Calvin M. Hayes, 54, of the 300 block of Pine Street, is also charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The victim, a 45-year-old Maywood man, was treated and released at an unspecified hospital for cuts to the left side of his neck and left ear.
Batavia police say the two were co-workers who had just finished their shift at Suncast Corp., 701 N. Kirk Road, and were sharing a ride home. They began to argue in the car, police said. The victim then got out and went in to the factory for help. Hayes was arrested in the parking lot.
Bail has not been set. Police have not said when Hayes is likely to appear in bond court.
