Round Lake Park police hunt for missing 82-year-old man

Round Lake Park police are searching for an 82-year-old man whose family reported that he’s been missing since Monday morning.

Police Chief George Filenko said neighbors and family haven’t heard from James B. Hansen since he left his Saddlebrook Farms home about 8:30 a.m. Filenko said a neighbor saw Hansen drive off in a gray 2003 Toyota Camry with Illinois registration 1812491.

Filenko said Hansen is known to frequent Wal-Mart and Target stores. He said detectives have been visiting Targets and Walmarts in Lake County and plan to review surveillance video from the stores in an effort to track Hansen.

Hansen’s out-of-state daughter contacted Round Lake Park authorities Tuesday because she was concerned about not being able to reach her father on the telephone, Filenko said. Hansen’s stepsons, who live locally, told authorities they also haven’t heard from him and filed a missing-persons report.

Filenko said Hansen was last seen wearing a white nylon jacket, khaki pants and brown shoes. Hansen is 6 feet, about 200 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes.

Police are concerned Hansen may be stranded because the fuel gauge for his Camry is broken.

Anyone with information about Hansen is asked to call Round Lake Park police at (847) 270-9111.
