Man faces life in prison for assaulting two Carpentersville boys
A Chicago man faces a life prison sentence after a Kane County jury convicted him of assaulting two Carpentersville boys he knew from 2004 through 2007.
Tynell Dixon, 31, of the 1200 block of South Fairfield Avenue, was convicted of eight counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
The two victims, both 11 now, testified that they were repeatedly assaulted by Dixon between Dec. 1, 2004, and June 30, 2007, in Carpentersville. The victims told their father in 2007 they were abused and molested, authorities said.
“We appreciate the jury’s conscientious examination of the facts and its rejection of the defendant’s claim that these incidents were a figment of the children’s imaginations,” said Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon, who thanked prosecutors and police. “This is an important verdict for all victims of child sex abuse. Our office remains steadfastly committed to defending our community’s most vulnerable citizens.”
Dixon’s $7,500 bond was revoked after the jury returned its verdict late Thursday. He will be sentenced by Judge Timothy Sheldon on July 5. State law requires a person convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault with two or more victims to be sentenced to life in prison.
