Lung cancer survivors unite at NCH to offer hope
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (October 28, 2015) - Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) is shining a light on lung cancer by offering a night of hope, inspiration and support to those affected by the disease - from survivors and those newly diagnosed to healthcare workers who want to help.
Shine a Light on Lung Cancer is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, November 5, at the NCH Auditorium, 800 W. Central Road, Arlington Heights. Attendees will learn about the groundbreaking advances for survival and will be inspired by stories about lung cancer survivors.
The program, sponsored by the Lung Cancer Alliance, will feature keynote speaker Neeraj Desai, M.D., a board-certified interventional pulmonologist on staff at NCH, who will talk about lung cancer causes, symptoms and treatment options. Juli Aistars, an NCH lung patient navigator, also will speak about lung cancer screenings and how patient navigators coordinate care and provide guidance for patients.
The night will end with a ceremonial shining of light from flashlights to honor lung cancer survivors and their family members.
