Judson seeks nominations for volunteer award

Judson University is now seeking nominations for the D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award, which is presented annually to the candidate who has contributed to the greater good within the Fox Valley community by voluntarily serving others' physical, emotional, intellectual, or spiritual needs.

The D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award will be given during the Community Prayer Breakfast, which will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, in the Lindner Fitness Center, 1151 N. State St. in Elgin.

Last year's recipient, Risé D. Jones, was honored for her work as co-founder of Hamilton Wings, an enrichment program for Elgin-area children that uses the arts to promote leadership development and academic readiness of socially and/or economically challenged children. Past recipients have included: Mary Rees Freeman, Edward Hunter, Donna Anderson, Nancy Schueneman, Jack and Marlene Shales, Floyd Brown, Murna Hansemann, Dr. Clare Ollayos and Carl Flaks.

All nominations can be submitted through an online form at www.judsonu.edu/prayerbreakfast/ by the deadline, Tuesday, April 7.

All nominators and nominees are invited to attend the breakfast. General admission tickets are $20. Table sponsorships also are available.
