Elgin

• Elizabeth M. Paulsen, 24, of the 1900 block of Circle Court, Chicago Heights, was charged with attempted robbery and attempted armed robbery, according to court records. She is accused of threatening a person with a six-inch hunting knife on Saturday, officials said. Her bail was set at $70,000 Tuesday in Kane County bond court, and she is next due in court Aug. 26.

Kane County

• A dark blue Mazda 3 was stolen between 6 p.m. Aug. 5 and 5 a.m. Thursday from the 14N800 block of Sunset Drive near Hampshire.

• Jonathan D. Castillo, 26, of the 1800 block of Mulberry Drive, Montgomery, was charged with misdemeanor battery at 9:20 p.m. Friday, according to a sheriff's report. He is accused of fighting on the 50W100 block of Old State Road near Maple Park, reports said.

• A large safe containing $500, a wedding band and paperwork was stolen between 5:20 and 9:45 p.m. Friday from the home on the 47W700 block of Ramm Road near Maple Park. The victims told deputies they suspected at least two people used a dolly to wheel it out of the home because a door jam was broken.
