No. 12 Duke women down NC Wilmington 78-56

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Rebecca Greenwell hit five 3-pointers and scored 23 points and No. 12 Duke defeated North Carolina Wilmington 78-56 on Thursday.

The Blue Devils (11-3) only led 20-19 after one quarter as Wilmington cashed in on turnovers to erase a 10-point deficit. Duke took control in the second quarter by hitting 8 of 12 shots while the Seahawks went 3 of 15. It was 38-26 at the half.

Duke kept rolling, outscoring UNCW 24-11 as Greenwell hit three 3s in a 15-3 run. In a 10-minute stretch, the Blue Devils made 9 of 10 free throws to push the lead to 62-35.

Naqaiyyah Teague led the Seahawks (4-7) with 14 points and Shatia Cole added 11. Wilmington had a 39-35 rebounding advantage but Duke had a 44-28 edge in points in the paint and 17-4 on fast-break points.

Duke opens Atlantic Coast Conference play at Syracuse on Sunday.
