Appeal hearing set in southern Indiana quadruple killing
COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) - A southern Indiana man's appeal of his conviction in the shooting deaths of four people is set to go before the state Supreme Court later this month.
The appeal follows a Bartholomew County jury's verdict in February convicting 58-year-old Samuel Sallee of murder charges in the 2013 deaths of a couple and two of their friends inside a Waynesville house. Police believe the shootings may have been connected to a methamphetamine deal.
Defense attorney Jane Ann Noblitt tells The (Columbus) Republic (http://bit.ly/1SJGeCI ) that she will argue during the Dec. 17 Supreme Court hearing that the trial evidence wasn't sufficient to prove Sallee's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Sallee has denied killing the four people, saying they were friends.
A judge sentenced Sallee to life in prison without possibility of parole.
