Biesterfield Road lighting upgrades on tap in Elk Grove
Traffic signals and streetlights will be upgraded starting next month along Biesterfield Road in Elk Grove Village.
The work will include installation of LED signal modules and street name signs, replacement of emergency vehicle pre-emption devices, and painting of traffic signal and streetlight poles, officials said.
The village board last week approved a $512,272 contract with Wheaton-based Thorne Electric, Inc. for the work. The firm recently completed a LED street lighting project on Route 83.
The project will be funded with $403,418 from the village's bond refinance account and $108,854.36 from the industrial/commercial revitalization commission fund.
