Citizens fire academy

The Lake Forest Fire Department will offer its third annual Citizens Fire Academy beginning Thursday, Oct. 1, and running every Thursday for six weeks, ending Nov. 5. This is an interactive program designed to familiarize the citizens of the areas served with department personnel, equipment, and operations. It also provides a forum to share information and concerns. Topics include: history and overview of the department, fire gear and emergency medical services, incident command, mutual aid, auto extrication, ladder truck operations, fire prevention and special teams, Participants must be 18 and live or own a business in Lake Forest or Lake Bluff.
