Showing the courage of their convictions
Just a note to applaud Greg Padovani for having the courage to make an unpopular decision in canceling the Arlington Heights Memorial Day parade because, as the leader of the event, he believed it was the right thing to do.
Some lamented a perceived insult to those we honor on Memorial Day but the other side of the same coin might be a simple lesson that leadership, as demonstrated by so many during our country's conflicts, is exemplified by those who have the resolve to stand up for their convictions.
I also admire Don Long for showing us his own dedication by marching the empty parade route alone.
It reminds me that we can still have honest, yet honorable, disagreements on almost any important topic.
