Rockford girl's charred remains IDed; suspected arrested
PECATONICA, Ill. (AP) - Authorities in northern Illinois have arrested a juvenile in connection with the charred remains of a missing Rockford teenager found outside a mobile home.
WREX-TV reports Rockford police arrested the juvenile Thursday.
Stephenson County Coroner Tom Leamon says the body of 15-year-old Andreayah McBain also was identified on Thursday by a family member after dental records were inconclusive.
The girl was last seen Oct. 19 and was reported missing on Monday. Her charred remains were found Tuesday west of the Seward Forest Preserve in a rural area of Stephenson County.
The coroner says an autopsy found no injuries except for the thermal injuries. He said it appears the body was burned on site and had been there at least a day or two.
