Authorities: Elderly woman dead in Michigan house fire
VANDALIA, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say an elderly woman is dead after a house fire in Michigan close to the Indiana border.
Indiana's South Bend Tribune (http://bit.ly/1PlaQMU ) reports that 87-year-old Phyllis Jean Tucker of Vandalia, Michigan, was pronounced dead at the scene around 10 p.m. on Saturday.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office says when deputies and firefighters arrived they found the house fully engulfed. Authorities say two occupants escaped unharmed. Three of the family's four dogs escaped the fire. The fourth was taken to animal control for care and treatment.
