13-year-old in stolen truck leads police on pursuit

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Northern Indiana police say three teenage boys led an officer on a 10-minute pursuit before a stolen truck they were riding in crashed.

South Bend Police Capt. Phil Trent tells the South Bend Tribune (http://bit.ly/1wVrAlD ) police received a report about 3 a.m. EDT Tuesday of a stolen pickup.

Trent says an officer spotted the truck about 20 minutes later and began pursuing it with his squad car's lights on. That pursuit reached speeds of about 50 mph before the 13-year-old boy police say was behind the wheel lost control and the trucked crashed into a yard and he and his two companions took off on foot.

Trent says the 13-year-old driver and a 15-year-old boy who was in the truck were apprehended. Officers were still looking for the third boy.
