Wheeling adopts new lawn watering restrictions for 2016
Wheeling residents will have less time to water their lawns next summer as the village board unanimously adopted an ordinance Monday that will switch the village to an even-odd system in 2016.
This means that residents with an address ending in an even number may only water their lawns on even-numbered calendar days, and residents with odd addresses on odd calendar days.
The new system comes in addition to the current restriction that bans Wheeling residents from watering their lawns between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. from May-September.
The village plans to put out signs and send mailers to inform residents of the new restrictions.
