Elgin man facing gun charges
An Elgin man was arrested Friday morning on gun charges in an investigation by Elgin police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Bryant Torres, 31, of the 1600 block of Mulberry Court, is charged with armed habitual criminal, possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a street gang member, possession of a firearm without firearm owners identification, sale of a firearm without firearm owners identification and obstruction of justice.
Police and federal agents searched his home at 6 a.m. Several people were in custody, according to Elgin police.
Torres’ pretrial detention hearing was continued to Saturday morning in Kane County court, according to court records.
