Rockford University looking to finish raising $17.3 million

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - Rockford University says it still needs to raise $6.6 million as part of its $17.3 million Rock Solid and Ready capital campaign.

Rockford announced the campaign this week. The goal is to raise the money by the end of 2018. The Rockford Register Star reports (http://bit.ly/1L49Bx5 ) university officials raised $10.7 million during the campaign's quiet phase.

The private school has about 1,250 full and part-time students.

The university plans to use the money to pay $6 million for a new field house and event center and $1.2 million in upgrades and renovations to the university's Starr Science Center, among other projects.
