German unemployment drops again in October, to 6 percent
BERLIN (AP) - Germany's unemployment rate dropped to 6 percent in October as the labor market in Europe's strongest economy remained healthy.
The Federal Labor Agency said Thursday that the rate ticked down 0.2 percentage points from September, with 59,000 fewer people out of work. Overall, 2.65 million Germans were registered as unemployed during the month.
Adjusted for seasonal factors, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.4 percent, where it has been since April.
Germany's economy remains strong, though the government recently trimmed its 2015 growth forecast to 1.7 from 1.8 percent. It cited weakness in China and other major emerging economies.
