Mundelein blood drive:

The Mundelein Fire Department is working with LifeSource to host a "special emergency blood drive" on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Mundelein Fire Station 1, 1000 N. Midlothian Road. Fire officials said this is a critical time for blood supplies, which are low due to the subzero temperatures and the holidays, and that fire services in the Chicago region are hosting drives to address shortages. Reservations can be made in advance at www.lifesource.org or by calling (877) 543-3768. Use Code MN10. Walk in donations also are welcomed. The goal of the drive is to provide more than 100 units of blood, officials said.
