Cause-A-Palooza celebrates and connects charities with supporters
I Support Community, a Naperville-based charity that seeks to empower people of all ages to give and volunteer with local nonprofits, next month hosts its third annual family fundraiser, Cause-A-Palooza.
"There will be something for everyone at Cause-A-Palooza - fun and entertainment, as well as an opportunity for individuals and families to discover how to donate their time, treasure or talent and make a dramatic impact in their community," said Marion Ruthig, founder and executive director of iSupportCommunity.org.
Cause-A-Palooza is a celebration of all local charities do for the community; a cause fair combined with a "palooza" atmosphere that includes live music by Junkyard Acoustic Duo, snacks and desserts, kids activities, silent auction and cash bar for adults.
Festivities run 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at the Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873, 908 Jackson Ave., Naperville. All proceeds from the event will benefit I Support Community and expand the organization's after-school education program, teen opportunities and video storytelling program for charities.
I Support Community's mission is to educate, inspire and empower people of all ages to engage in their community's nonprofits through volunteering and giving. ISC believes that empathy gained from connecting to a charity's story, combined with the experience of serving the cause, can positively impact people's lives and build community contributors. ISC's educational programing consists of hosting monthly events for people of all ages to learn about issues affecting local charities, their impact in the community and how individuals can help.
ISC has two programs for young children: Kids Crew meets one weekend a month for ages 3 to 10; and Charity Kids Crew Club meets after school at Elmwood Elementary for children in kindergarten through second grade. The Teen Crew hosts three to six events throughout the year to engage teens in fundraising, volunteer and awareness of events that support local charities. Adults meet in the morning over a cup of coffee or after work to learn about a local charity and become ambassadors for the cause.
ISC also provides visitors to its website an intimate look at local charities through video storytelling. The filming is free to the charitable organization following a due diligence vetting process. To date, ISC has filmed more than 100 videos of 25-plus local charities, include organizations such as KidsMatter, Naperville CARES, The Max Lacewell Foundation and Imerman Angels.
Tickets to Cause-A-Palooza are $10 for adults and free for kids. For information and to purchase tickets, visit www.isupportcommunity.org/events/cause-a-palooza-2015/.
