Public asked to help name Flint's Ontario Hockey League team
FLINT, Mich. (AP) - The public is being asked to help name the Ontario Hockey League team that's scheduled to start playing in Flint later this year.
The league's Board of Governors on Monday approved plans to sell the Plymouth Whalers and move the team to Flint. The Flint Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1DxqsTu ) the ownership group, led by team owner Rolf Nilsen and President Costa Papista, is looking for a team name, team colors and logo.
An online contest starts Wednesday. A form is provided, where people can leave ideas. The deadline is Feb. 11. Papista says officials need to decide the name, logo and colors by Feb. 20.
The winning idea will be good for a pair of season tickets for the 2015-16 season and a jersey autographed by the team.
