Grayslake history event:

Letters written by World War I Grayslake soldiers will be read during the 17th annual Cemetery Walk sponsored by the Grayslake Historical Society on Sunday, Oct. 5, at Grayslake Cemetery, northeast corner of Lake Street and Route 120. There will be identical programs at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. The event, to be held rain or shine, is free, but donations will be appreciated. The letters will be read by actors portraying wives and mothers of the veterans. A history of the Grayslake American Legion Post will be highlighted. The event is a prelude to the World War I exhibit that opens Oct. 11 at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake.
