St. Mary's Services Fundraising: A Change in Scenery
On April 26th, 2015 St. Mary's Services will be hosting their Spring Outreach Event entitled St. Mary's Fling at Kings. The agency will be holding this event at Kings Bowling & Entertainment from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., located in the MB Financial Park/Entertainment District of Rosemont, IL.
In the past, the agency had relied mainly on it's one fundraising gala, a formal affair held in the fall season to promote it's mission and vision while generating resources for the many women and teens that St. Mary's Services and the Hopeful Beginnings maternity program serve on a daily basis. St. Mary's offers counseling and support to women experiencing unplanned pregnancies and families looking to adopt - all in an effort to help find good homes for children. The agency is expanding its mission to include prenatal and parenting education to teens, so that if adoption is not chosen, the parents can provide the best possible environment for their child.
This year, the St. Mary's fundraising committee is trying a different and well-thought-out approach. They have added a spring event, one of a much more laid-back nature, in hopes to broaden their following of supporters. It is very important as an agency, especially one that works closely with high school and college aged women, to have the backing from this "younger" community. The cost to attend is only $40 when you pre-register through the agency website, and $50 at the door. Admission includes unlimited bowling (competitive-style and/or open bowl) during the entire event (there will be prizes for competitive bowlers!), and a buffet of mouth-watering items. The event's menu includes two different salads, appetizers such as pulled pork sliders and fried mac 'n cheese bites, an assortment of gourmet pizzas, and pecan pie tarts to satisfy your sweet tooth! The St. Mary's Staff will emcee the event with the help of some music entertainment. Raffle baskets will border the event space; with donors such as the Chicago White Sox, Navy Pier, and other local businesses, these items are second to none! The silent auction sponsor, J.V.D. Charity Sports Auctions, has quite the line-up this time; autographed memorabilia from The Chicago Cubs, White Sox, Blackhawks, Bears, Bulls, movie stars, music artists and more! But that's not all... there will also be a 50/50 cash raffle. Guests will be able to buy 50/50 cash raffle tickets for $1 a piece or 6 for $5. The agency is beyond grateful for the confirmed lane sponsors of Mel Doerr, Professional Psychic, Judy Leonardis, owner of Dog Training Now!, Konica Minolta Business Solutions, Marie Tortoriello, Joanne & Patrick Bratta, and the Gold Champps Group of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce. This event is an opportunity for the committed supporters of St. Mary's to get together in a fun, laid-back environment and share stories; the new followers will learn all about the agency and the services it offers, in hopes that they will then spread the word to their families and peers about the ultimate mission of St. Mary's Services - every child deserves a good home.
