Culver's recognizes Patriot Day
On Thursday, veterans were given a free sundae at Culver's Restaurants in Lake County as part of 9/11 Culver's Day of Giving.
The event was in recognition of Patriot Day.
Veterans who acted as greeters met with customers and employees at restaurants in Grayslake, Libertyville, Mundelein, Zion, Buffalo Grove, Island Lake and Lake Zurich as a sign of patriotism.
"This is fantastic. They (Culver's) have been a tremendous partner and given us great support," said Vietnam veteran Paul Baffico of Lake Forest. "They are all American."
Culver's donated a portion of each store's sales to Lake County Veterans and Family Services Foundation.
"I think it's a great thing. It's a sad day for our country, but it's a great way to raise money for veterans and their families," Culver's manager Brenda Velasquez said.
Customers also donated money to show support for military servicemen, women and families who have provided safety and freedom for all Americans.
