Elgin Civics Club presents 'Transforming Government' Sept. 21

The Elgin Civics Club invites Elgin residents to learn more about their community, its elected officials and its local government from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.

The club welcomes guest speaker Sean Stegall, Elgin's city manager, who will discuss the topic of "Transforming Local Government," sharing examples of the innovative things the city of Elgin is doing to transform how local government operates and delivers services, and how citizen engagement is critical to its success.

Residents also will learn more about the club, its upcoming civic programs and how to get involved and engaged in community conversations.

This program is free and open to all Elgin residents. For more information, visit contact the club at elgincivicsclub@gmail.com.

The Elgin Civics Club was founded in early 2015 by a group of Elgin residents who came together to encourage their neighbors to get engaged in local conversations that impact them and their community. The organization is non-partisan and aims to educate residents on the importance of participating in their local government, via local elections and other means.
