Salvation Army kicks off holiday campaign Nov. 4

The Salvation Army in Elgin invites the public to celebrate its 2016 Christmas Campaign Kickoff at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way.

The Salvation Army, which is the largest direct provider of social services in Illinois, is excited to kick off another red kettle fundraising season that provides funding for year-round programs and services for those in need in the Elgin community.

The event will include the ceremonial dropping of the first coin into the red kettle by Senator Michael Noland, 22nd District. Special guest speakers will also include Mayor David Kaptain of Elgin and Lt. Colonel Charles H. Smith, divisional commander of The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division. Cedric Quackenbush, manager of communications and community relations for Windy City Bulls, will announce a new community partnership.

The cost is $30 and includes more than 12 local food vendors providing appetizers and desserts. Musical entertainment is by The Frozen Robins and The Salvation Army brass ensemble. Silent auction baskets are available for bidding and discounted tickets for The Salvation Army's night at the Windy City Bulls Dec. 16 will be sold.
