9. A judge set bail at $1.5 million Sunday for a 23-year-old man facing attempted murder and aggravated battery charges stemming from a May 27 shooting in Elgin. Police say Victor Rivera's arrest Saturday culminated an extensive investigation into the shooting along DuBois Avenue.
10. A 43-year-old Round Lake Park man faces a hate crime charge after authorities say he used racially charged statements during an assault on a juvenile. Samuel J. Kreger was arrested when police responded to a report of a fight between several juveniles and an adult. One juvenile also was taken into custody.
