Prospective members invited to Northwest Choral Society Meet & Greet
If you previously sang in a chorus - high school, college or community group - and are now looking for a great activity in which to participate, the Northwest Choral Society ("NWCS") invites you to a "Meet & Greet" on Tuesday, May 26. The casual social event will be held between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 1095 Thacker St. (between Margaret St. and Jeannette St.), Des Plaines, IL.
The evening will include welcoming prospective members and refreshments, and new-comers are welcome to sit in on NWCS's weekly Tuesday rehearsal starting at 7:30 p.m.
Northwest Choral Society will soon begin rehearsing music for a compact disk to be recorded in October with Chicago's Gargoyle Brass Ensemble, a chamber group comprised of faculty and former students at the University of Chicago.
The 2015-16 performance season will celebrate the Northwest Choral Society's 50th anniversary with a Christmas concert that includes Giovanni Gabrieli's In Ecclesiis, John Rutter's Gloria, Z. Randall Stroope's Hodie! This Day and Conrad Sousa's A Christmas Garland. This concert and two others will be performed in various venues in Arlington Heights.
Through the Northwest Choral Society, singers who are at least 17 years of age with previous four-part choral experience enjoy the personal growth and satisfaction that comes from active participation in a performing arts organization known for excellence and camaraderie. During the year, members sharpen their singing skills and learn a varied repertoire of sacred and secular, classical and popular music that has become the hallmark of the group.
The small size of the chorus (approximately 50 members) means members will see familiar faces each week, and find the group friendly, supportive, and fun.
