Arlington Hts. restaurants help raise $8,000 for mission trips

Eighteen Arlington Heights area restaurants agreed to provide food for a Trivia Night held recently at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Arlington Heights, to help raise $8,000 for upcoming mission trips to Guatemala, Tanzania and Russia.

A mini "Taste of Arlington Heights" encouraged Trivia Night participants to taste their way through local dishes provided by area establishments.

"We were blown away. Eighteen different local restaurants (and some home cooks, too) donated large portions of their favorite menu items for people to sample at Trivia Night.

"It was a huge help to our church community and the people who are traveling to serve in other parts of the world," said Lexi Schmidt, St. Peter teacher and mission trip organizer.

"(It was) so encouraging and refreshing to see the community really come together to support this and make a positive change in these communities."

More than $8,000 was raised overall. The trips the event supported were orphan outreach in Russia, eyeglass and albino outreach in Tanzania and youth outreach in Guatemala. For details about the mission trips, visit fulllifeinchrist.org/missions.
