Snyder administration hosts summit to urge hiring disabled
LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Gov. Rick Snyder's administration is hosting a third annual summit to encourage businesses to hire workers with disabilities.
Monday's meeting in Lansing will include remarks from Lt. Gov. Brian Calley, a Dow Chemical executive and the leader of Flint's mass transit authority.
Calley says the Snyder administration is committed to eliminating barriers for people with disabilities who want to work.
In October, Snyder issued a directive calling for state government to adopt a number of measures to ensure people with disabilities have an equal opportunity for careers in public service.
Snyder's administration says previous summits reached more than 400 business leaders and resulted in the hiring of more than 1,200 workers with disabilities.
