St. Charles burglar facing criminal charges
A St. Charles man on parole for car burglaries was arrested Monday in Geneva on a charge he was carrying burglary tools.
Christopher Mentenick, 26, was also charged with resisting a peace officer.
He was being held on $75,000 bail at the Kane County jail.
More information about the arrest was not available Tuesday afternoon from Geneva police.
In February 2014, Mentenick was sentenced to 3½ years in prison after he pleaded guilty to burglarizing cars in the Fisher Farms subdivision in Geneva and in the Falcons Trail subdivision near St. Charles in 2013. He was released on parole May 20. He had received credit for time spent in jail awaiting trial.
If a judge decides he violated the terms of parole, Mentenick can be resentenced to up to seven years in prison.
Mentenick had previously been imprisoned for burglaries and thefts committed in DeKalb County.
