One hurt in crash on Tri-State Tollway

A motorist lost control of a van Monday morning and rolled the vehicle down an embankment on the Tri-State Tollway near Deerfield, authorities said.

He was hurt but expected to survive, said Deputy Chief Ray Larson of the Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District.

The accident happened about 10 a.m. on the northbound side of I-94, just north of Route 22.

The van went off the east side off the highway and down the embankment, overturning as it went, Larson said.

The driver was able to free himself from the wreckage. He was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.
