White Sox fall again ... but at least they score

The Chicago White Sox lost again Wednesday night, their sixth straight setback.

On the bright side, at least they went down swinging.

Melky Cabrera's RBI double in the sixth inning snapped a 30-inning scoreless streak, but it wasn't enough for the Sox, who fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 at U.S. Cellular Field.

The White Sox have been plagued by a poor offense all season.

"Getting a hit is execution," said manager Robin Ventura, who was ejected in the fourth inning Wednesday after arguing with home-plate umpire Alfonso Marquez about a catcher's interference call on Cabrera. "But when guys are on base, you would like to see guys knock them in. That's the execution we're really looking for that guys are really hoping to get to.

"Really, you have two choices. You can either come in, fight like (heck), scratch and claw or curl up in a ball. And nobody in there is going to curl up into a ball. They're all going to come out here and compete, and scratch and claw."

Sox starter John Danks allowed 3 runs in the first inning before settling down.

In the sixth, Cabrera doubled home Adam Eaton and came around to score on Avisail Garcia's single.
