Ex-basketball coach acquitted of sex charges
A former Chicago charter school basketball coach has been acquitted of charges he forced a student to perform a sex act in his automobile and attempted to assault another girl.
Kevin Jones was accused last year of having sex with a female student who played on the boys' team at Epic Academy, a South Side charter school. In addition to the sex act with the 17-year-old girl, he allegedly pushed another 17-year-old girl's head onto his lap after he unzipped his pants.
A jury on Thursday acquitted the 37-year-old Jones of criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and attempted criminal sexual assault charges.
Jones' lawyer argued the alleged victim made inconsistent statements and there was no physical evidence of an attack.
