Norwich beats Villa 2-0 in EPL

NORWICH, England (AP) - Norwich moved further away from the relegation zone Monday with a 2-0 win against Aston Villa, which remained badly adrift at the bottom of the English Premier League.

Jonny Howson and Dieumerci Mbokani scored to give the Canaries their fifth league victory and a total of 20 points from their first 19 games.

Villa, which hasn't won in the league since the opening day of the season, remains bottom with eight points.

The visitors' deep defensive line at Carrow Road left Nathan Redmond with little option in the 24th but to chip an optimistic cross toward Mbokani. A header by Villa's Leandro Bacuna fell to Howson, who struck first time beyond goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

In the 87th, Wes Hoolahan crossed toward Mbokani, who headed past Guzan.
