Restoration work day at Oak Openings near Grayslake

An ecological restoration work day will be from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Oak Openings near Grayslake. The work is a collaborative effort of Conserve Lake County and Libertyville Township to steward Oak Openings, which is part of the Liberty Prairie Reserve. Tools and instruction are provided. Participants should wear jeans and boots. Gloves, water and nourishment will be provided. Registration is suggested but not mandatory. The parking area for Oak Openings is on the east side of Route 45, one-half mile south of Route 120 just north of Casey Road. It is accessible only when traveling north on Route 45.
