Family Reading Night at Adler Park School
Kindergartner Breckin McKenzie-Brady wore pajamas as he snuggled with his mother, Shannon, while they read "How Rocket Learned to Read" by Tad Hills.
More than 100 students wore colorful pajamas as they held teddy bears and stuffed dogs, cats, penguins and hippos at Adler Park School in Libertyville while participating in Family Reading Night on Thursday.
"It's a great opportunity for the Adler Park family to come together," said Principal Kerri Bongle. "It's just a nice event for parents and their kids to read together."
The school's Learning Center was filled with children lying on blankets and pillows as they listened to guest reader 5-year-old Emmett Bongle read "I'm the Biggest Thing in the Ocean" by Kevin Sherry.
As part of the sharing spirit, families brought canned food to donate to the Libertyville Food Pantry.
