Heartland Film Festival to present Jimmy Stewart award

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A new award at an Indianapolis film festival will honor the spirit of late actor Jimmy Stewart.

The Heartland Film Festival announced this week the Jimmy Stewart Legacy Award will debut at its 25th annual festival next October.

It says the award will include a $5,000 cash prize for a single winner selected from the festival's feature-length narrative and documentary titles. The winning film will best embody the legacy of Stewart and will demonstrate the triumph of the human spirit through determination and the defiance of odds, humble vulnerability and courage in the face of adversity.

Funding for the Jimmy Stewart Legacy Award is being made possible by a Lilly Endowment grant.
