Congressman Davis to deliver GOP address from Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - GOP Congressman Rodney Davis is scheduled to deliver his party's weekly address to the nation on Saturday from Springfield.

The Taylorville Republican's office says Davis plans to discuss priorities of the new congressional session. It begins next week. The priorities include legislation sponsored by Davis that encourages small businesses to hire more veterans.

Davis says he's honored to deliver the first Republican address of the new year form the home and resting place of 16th President Abraham Lincoln.

He says that the new congressional session comes with "another opportunity to govern on behalf of the American people and advance solutions that promote growth and job creation."

The address will be available online beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday.
