Barrington Hills police receive accreditation

Barrington Hills police have been awarded national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc.

The accreditation follows a multiyear self-assessment phase and a meticulous site-based assessment of policy, procedures, equipment, facilities and community engagement by CALEA assessors.

Barrington Hills Police Chief Joseph Colditz and Accreditation Manager William Walsh attended a commission hearing in an online webinar format on March 19, before the group's final decision.

Each agency under review typically goes before CALEA's 21-member board of commissioners, who review all findings and determines accreditation status. Barrington Hills was first accredited in 2004.
