Michigan students team with Abu Dhabi counterparts, win race
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - University of Michigan students teamed up with their counterparts from Abu Dhabi University to win a multi-day solar car race across the United Arab Emirates.
They participated in the first Abu Dhabi Solar Challenge that started Thursday. The team joined others from six continents competing 745 miles in cars they designed and built.
The Michigan-Abu Dhabi team drove the Quantum, the Ann Arbor university's vehicle that won its fifth national title in a row last year at the American Solar Challenge competition. The school says the team finished roughly 2ˆ½ minutes ahead of the second place team.
This was the first race for the Abu Dhabi students.
