Man calls Kalamazoo sheriff, leads officers to slaying scene
OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a man called the Kalamazoo County sheriff's department and directed officers to a town house, where they found a 21-year-old woman who'd been fatally shot.
The shooting happened Sunday at Cooper Beech Townhomes in Oshemo Township, west of Kalamazoo.
Undersheriff Paul Matyas says the man who called had a past relationship with the victim, Jazmyne L. Gibson.
Matyas says the man called about 5:50 p.m. Sunday, then made a second call that led authorities to the scene.
The undersheriff tells the Kalamazoo Gazette (http://bit.ly/1BVz1c7 ) that a person of interest is in custody. Matyas won't say if that's the man who called.
So far, charges haven't been filed.
