I currently a coordinator for the DuPage Valley Alpha Phi Alumnae group.Elected offices held: No elected positions.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?I was excited when the opportunity came up to run for Village Trustee in Glen Ellyn. Over the 6 years, I have had an opportunity to interact with the Village, County, College of DuPage, and the residents of Glen Ellyn. I believe the experience of serving on the Raintree board and working with other groups, gives me a different perspective on issues important to the community. As a Village Trustee, my goal will be to maintain an open mind. I will listen first and speak second. I look forward to the opportunity to work with the Village Board, Staff, and our amazing community.What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I think that anyone would like to see lower taxes. However based on Illinois' model of funding schools, I think Glen Ellyn resident's get more for their money than many surrounding areas.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?Our Volunteer fire department is an amazing organization. I think the recent addition of the fee to the water bill helps to ensure the future of the fire department. The police department in Glen Ellyn is also a great organization. I think that the construction of a new building will help the department better meet the modern challenges today's law enforcement face.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Overall, I believe that the previous boards are creating the appropriate budgets. The Village is well managed and previous boards are doing a good job of managing village assets.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?The next 4 years are going to be an exciting time for both the Village govt and the residents. Instead of using consultants and developers to define Glen Ellyn's future in the Central Business District, the Village should openly seek more feed back from our residents.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?While the Village is well managed, the board needs to make sure that the services that the Village offers are still relevant to the community and continue to manage finances.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Pope FrancisWhat's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?My mom always taught me that I needed to be able to stand on my own feet and take care of myself.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Spend more time with family and friends. It's so important to be present with the people who are in your life right now.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?I loved Math and Science which lead me to Purdue.
