Chicago man charged with battery of 80-year-old

Cook County authorities have charged a Chicago man with hitting his 80-year-old neighbor with a board during an argument over fishing tackle and $8.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports police said Tuesday that 32-year-old Corey Mitchell is charged with felony aggravated battery of a person over 60. They say Mitchell hit his neighbor with a two-by-four board on Saturday at the older man's Chicago home following their argument.

Police say the elderly man was taken to a hospital for a gash on his head and swelling near his eye. They say he is stable.

Police arrested Mitchell the next day. He was ordered held on $250,000 bond. Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.
