Quincy moving into 3rd phase of recovery after July storm
QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - The city of Quincy in western Illinois has started the third phase of cleanup after a damaging windstorm in July.
The Quincy Herald-Whig reports (http://bit.ly/1iLv8ka ) that the city hired a Kansas tree care company to remove trees and hundreds of tree stumps, trim trees and pick up brush in alleys and roadways. Custom Tree Care Inc. plans to be in Quincy for several weeks under a more than $228,000 contract.
High winds during the mid-July storm brought down large trees throughout the city, including dozens of major trees in city parks.
Next the city is seeking bids to repair sidewalks that were damaged by the storm. City expenditures for cleanup in the days after the storm topped hundreds of thousands of dollars.
