Hundreds mourn slain Milwaukee girl, 5

MILWAUKEE - More than 1,000 mourners gathered in Milwaukee to say goodbye to a 5-year-old girl shot to death when bullets were fired into her grandparents' home.

A funeral Mass was held for Laylah Petersen at Our Lady of Good Hope Church on Wednesday.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the Rev. Michael Barrett had a message for the unknown shooters in his homily.

Barrett said: "You will run, you will hide, but you will not rest until you, too, come to Jesus."

At Laylah's grave, dozens of mourners released pink and purple balloons.

Laylah was shot in the head and killed last week as she sat on her grandfather's lap. Milwaukee police have made her case a priority but so far no suspects or motive has been identified.
