Southbound Interstate 65 reopens after semitrailer crashes

CHALMERS, Ind. (AP) - Indiana State Police say southbound lanes of Interstate 65 in northwestern Indiana have reopened after being closed for at least two crashes.

Police say both southbound lanes were closed near mile-marker 191 in White County for about three hours Thursday afternoon and traffic was rerouted to another highway. The location is about 70 miles south of Gary.

Police say traffic had slowed for an earlier crash when a semitrailer pulling double trailers failed to slow and ran into four other semitrailers and a car. They say two semitrailer drivers were taken to a Lafayette hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
